Hello Spring!
Spring is officially here! There is no time like the present to embrace spring home decor and finally put away any old clutter from the winter. It may sound strange, but I have always loved spring cleaning. The act is symbolic of new beginnings. No matter the difficulties of yesteryear, we can decorate our homes in a way that make us feel happy and hopeful for the months to come.
The flowers are blooming and the birds are singing. We can finally throw open those windows since warmer weather is on the way. Yet, when it comes to actually decorating, some people are completely lost. If this is you, don’t worry at all! I hope this post will help you find your own style of spring home decor.
Personally, when it comes to home decor in general, I prefer a mix of different genres. Mostly decor that is chic, modern, a dash of rustic, and touch of boho. We can always mix different styles to create a decorating scheme that speaks to us.
So how do we decorate for spring? Read on for some spring home decor ideas!

Spring Home Decor Inspiration
1. Bring the Outdoors In
I love to bring realistic looking faux greenery into my home. It’s such an easy way to freshen up your space without the concern over keeping up with the watering schedule for each plant. It’s a pandemic. Nobody has time for that let’s be real!
My personal favorite faux plants are eucalyptus garlands. I have a cat so I have never been able to bring real eucalyptus into the house since it is toxic to cats. Thankfully, Winlyn makes a pretty authentic looking garland as a pet-friendly substitute. If you don’t have pets then I suggest hanging some live eucalyptus in your shower! It will be like your own spa.
Another fantastic and low maintenance option is to get medium to large faux potted plants for your home. Monstera for instance, is a modern and chic looking plant that brings a fresh vibe to any space.
How can we use garlands?
There are a number of options regarding how to decorate with garlands. For spring home décor I would use them by creating a fresh table runner, an Easter table accent, drape it on a mantle, place it on a bookshelf, or along the windowsill. There are so many options available for you. Test different methods out to see what feels right for you. It is so easy to freshen up your space with a garland.
Where should you place potted plants?
Place potted plants in areas that will benefit from a pop of green. If you are limited on floor space, then take a look at bookcases, desks, windowsills or entertainment stands.
Plants that need a bit of height can benefit from a planter stand. This adds some height and style. For floor or tabletop plants, use cute baskets to hide the basic pot it comes with. Personally, I love modern woven baskets for indoor planters. It looks so chic and they are easy to switch-up throughout the year.
2. Cute Doormats
Step into spring with a cute spring doormat at your door, foyer, or mud room. Door mats are an easy and cheap way to add seasonal spice to your spring home décor. The door mats below for instance, are simple yet very chic. You don’t have to go above and beyond while decorating. Sometimes a simple pop of functional décor is all you need.
3. Set the Table for Spring
I suggest keeping the foundation of your spring home decor very simple by choosing neutrals. This makes it so much easier and cheaper for you to transition to other seasons throughout the year. All you have to do is add pops of colors to the napkins, dishes, and decorative accents. You don’t want to use color everywhere because then the spring decor may look daunting. As the saying goes, less is more!
4. Spring Home Decor Accents
Accents are so versatile and fun to switch up over time. For spring, embrace natural décor with wood bead garlands, floral wreaths, decorative flowers, and spring hurricane candle holders. Tip: You can usually find cute bird or rabbit figurines at your local thrift store! You can tuck little accents into your bookcases, entertainment stands, or around your living room to name a few.
5. Make Your Home Cozy for Spring
My name is Janelle and I have a bedding and throw pillow addiction. My boyfriend always laughs at me because I tend to switch up my bedding every few months. I just love how a fresh bedding set and new pillow covers can completely refresh a space.
Spring home decor is the perfect opportunity to utilize fun colors and textures in your decorating. Don’t be afraid to mix different styles. There is no need to be matchy-matchy. Tip: You can save money by reusing your old throw pillows and just purchasing covers without the inserts.
6. Inspire Your Senses
Don’t forget to inspire your senses by lighting a spring scented candle. Now of course not everyone enjoys floral candles that smell of lilac or peony. I’m with you! Don’t worry there are candles out there for you.
I love mild scented candles that aren’t overwhelming. Try lemon scents or a coconut soy blend candle like the one below called “fire in the rain.” It’s not overpowering so you won’t sneeze your head off I promise. Do your research, read the ingredients, and peruse the reviews to make sure it works for you. Tip: You can also find some great ones at HomeGoods or Marshalls.
Spring Vibes Only
There you have it! You have the building blocks to decorating your home for the spring season. Spring home decor doesn’t have to be complicated. Stick with a neutral foundation that you can easily swap decorative accents in and out throughout the year. This not only gives you flexibility but it saves you money! I hope you have a fabulous time decorating your home for spring. If you have any questions, please comment them below!
